The second iPod touch came out after the original iPod Touch 1G arrived and many people had to
choose between buying this new version with speakers and a new OS (2.0) or to keep their easily
crackable 1G versions which only needed one software.
Thankfully in 2009 the iPhone dev and Chronic-dev teams have found an exploit in the processing unit
called the ARM_GO exploit. This allowed patching the signature checks and became a tethered and quickly
untethered full jailbreak. The iPod Touch 2G is the most recommended jailbreaking platform now, and JB
applications may install Cydia and BSD subsystems by default making the process that much easier.
The original untethered jailbreak used Quickpwn, But there are newer and more specific programs for this
device that you may use. We are downloading Blackra1n by George Hotz (geohot):

This process is extremely easy in comparison to other jailbreaking processes, In fact it only requires one thing
from you. Once you start the application it should simply show this or a similar interface:

As long as you have firmware 3.1.2 then hitting
The button is all you are required to do! It should cause your iPod touch 2G's screen to go black, displaying a logo
and entering recovery. From here it will patch the firmware and install the proper applications to install cydia, etc.

You can celebrate, as your iPod Touch 2G has a new and cracked 3.1.2 firmware. As in the picture above, simply press into the
Blackra1n application and it will ask you to choose an installer.
What installer should I choose?
I'd personally recommend Cydia. It is slightly slow (1 minute boot time for reloading packages) but has the most vast source
of apps. You can download cracked applications from sources (View the cydia tutorial in the menu) and a wide variety of tools
and themes.
If you wish to install Rock or Icy (A faster, but more commercial-like application installer, you can install it along with Cydia.
When you are done, or if you are satisfied press the uninstall blackra1n if you wish to safely remove the blackra1n icon (nothing else is touched).
