Make sure you have the version 1.1.4. If you have anything installed it will need to be restored, so make sure you make a fresh installation of firmware 1.1.4 regardless of which version you have (download from firmwares section and put your iPod Touch into DFU (?) mode to recover via itunes. Done? Good, From here it is fairly simple. Keep your iPod Touch in standard mode and plug it into your USB interface. What you should do next is hit the "Jailbreak" button, careful not to hit any others, and it will attempt to put your iPod touch into DFU mode using a simple exploit and try to install the cracked firmware. If any problems occure, go into DFU again and restore with itunes, there is no hardware risk in this operation. If it is successful, then congratulations! You should have an 'installer' icon on your iPod. Use it to install BSD Subsystems if it already doesn't (important) and Install OpenSSH to allow access to your iPod's files, But you can't do this if you don't have wifi. And that's it! Please read the Cydia tutorial to view how to use/install Cydia and how to SSH to your iPhone to place apps/patch it.
